The challenge
In October 2023, a U.S. restaurant hired me to get more diners through the door. The food and service were good, but three problems were holding it back:
- It ranked poorly for local restaurant searches.
- Its website was slow and dated, and visitors left before booking.
- Its Google Business Profile was missing features that turn searchers into customers.
What I did
I built a local SEO plan with four parts:
- I rewrote the website copy around what local diners were searching for.
- I sped up the site, made it work properly on phones and simplified the navigation.
- I corrected the Google Business Profile details, added new photos and switched on menu listings and online reservations.
- I earned links from local directories, food blogs and news sites, which lifted rankings and sent visitors straight to the site.
The results, October 2023 to March 2024
21,017 people found the restaurant on Google

12,549 website visits from local search

3,875 menu views

2,104 requests for directions

1,247 online reservations

1,214 phone calls

Revenue rose 20% to 25% after the changes went live.
What other restaurants can take from this
Start with what local diners search for and make sure your site answers it. Fill out every part of your Google Business Profile, because for this restaurant it was the biggest source of new customers finding them. Fix a slow or confusing website before you send more people to it. And get your restaurant mentioned on local food blogs, directories and news sites, which helped both rankings and credibility here.
